It's official: 'It Girls' around the world have decided they have a new fave sneaker.
2017 marks the forty year anniversary of the Vans Old Skool low-top sneaker. Originally named Style 36, the now instantly-recognisable sneaker with the side swoop had humble beginnings.
Initially designed specifically for skateboarding, Style 36 had a low-profile silhouette and the famous Vans waffle sole for extra grip.
Following in the footsteps of other sneaker houses who were using clever branding to help distinguish their kicks, Paul Van Doren added wave-like stripe to the side of Style 36. He called it the "Jazz Stripe".
The Vans Old Skool has maintained huge popularity over the last 4 decades, and no longer relegated to the feet of skater boys, it's now being worked into outfits worn by the world's most stylish A-list dressers.
